The turn of the year means one thing for our seventhings team: the next offsite event is coming up. It's time to make room for new ideas, sharpen our focus and dream big! What could be better for this than a change of location?
So we set off and turned our backs on our office for a few days. We went to Thuringia, to the Bio-Seehotel Zeulenroda to be precise, to put our heads together and start 2023 successfully with a common goal in mind.
Time for growth, enthusiasm and learning together
In the last few days, we have once again become aware of what makes an offsite successful. It is not characterised by countless presentation slides and numerous notes, but rather by active togetherness. Led by facilitators Katharina Reisch and Olga Beitler, both coaches and business development consultants, we brainstormed ideas, discussed passionately and celebrated each other's successes together. We found out who reliably pointed out aspects in brainstorming and discussion rounds that had not yet been considered and, who asked the crucial questions at the right moment. Everyone made their personal contribution - the sense of belonging was simply incredible!
We have succeeded in paving the way for our common goal:
"We build the global network of things to protect the earth's resources and enable sustainable value creation." We want to return resources to the cycle and map the entire lifecycle of inventories to have a positive impact on the waste of resources worldwide. We are already making the first steps with our Circularity Hub. From this big dream comes our vision for 2030: "We build software products to make circular asset management accessible to everyone."
Based on this, we set about identifying the focus topics for 2023, deriving OKRs for the individual units, and working on culture, strategy, and our communication structure. Together, we set the course for a successful 2023, scrutinised roles and structures, and took a close look at how we want to work together in the future. In this context, it was especially important to us that we pursue common goals across departments and stand for the same values.
Time for great feelings
In addition to all the strategic goals of seventhings, the focus was on personal exchange! Whether during long walks, energetic workouts or spending some relaxed time by the fireplace - the offsite gave us the necessary space to get to know each other better and deepen relationships.
At the same time, our personal development was not to be neglected. For this reason, a personal retrospective of the year 2022 was on the agenda. Another challenging but also rewarding highlight: Dealing with different personality types as part of a workshop, which required a very reflective and open approach to one's own personality. Admittedly, this workshop demanded a lot from us. At the same time, however, it once again became clear what seventhings is all about: open and honest communication as well as the great appreciation shown within the team.
With many new ideas and inspiring conversations in mind, we are now back in Dresden. Now it's time to tackle the ambitious goals in the individual units in order to move seventhings forward together!
